2023 Week 2 Results
Before we get to the recap. I need people to understand the league has been evolving over the years. It started out as a non-member league until the great TJ joined the league and then other members followed. Then a few years back we switched from everyone playing just the blue tees to a choice between the blue, combo or white tees. This led to many people talking about how certain people had the advantage in the birdie pool, so it was suggested to make all birdies $25 instead of the $100 pool. Also, some people brought up the point that playing a solid nine holes should win more than one great hole. I kinda agree with that so first place individual and team will get $30, and second place will get $25 (first week winners the difference will be in the box next week). Please don't forget we average 60 golfers a year in this league with 60 different opinions.
We had another nice turn out for week 2: 25 public and 20 members. This week? HHhmmm not much better than last. To sum up this week we had only ONE person birdie hole 13.
Individual Play - We had three golfers at +5 this week. Chris Silluvan, Tim Greene and Rich White. Chris Sullivan won the card off with a par on hole 6 to take high honors this week. Tim Greene captured second place with a bogey on the first and Rich White got a pat on the back for a good job.
Team Play - The team of Tim Greene (+5) and Paul Raynard (2nd week in a row for him) at a +5 captured first. Kevin McCoy (+4) and Mike Silva (E) were second at +4
Closest to the Pin: Mike Silva stuck his shot closest to the pin with 3’1” and made the putt with ease.
Front nine birdie pool: We had a total of TWO … that is correct two birdies yesterday, Mike Leonard on hole 2 and Mike Silva on hole 3. No holes were covered because as a group we only had 2 Birdies !!!
Back nine birdie pool: We had more than double the number of birdies on the back nine with half the players. We had 5 birdies in total and none of them got cover on the back: Mike Silva (10), Tim Greene (11), Dan Ramyo (12), Ed Finn (13) and Larry Barry (16). Again no holes were covered, not even hole 13.
