Week 18

                                          2022 Week 18 Results

No complains here we needed the RAIN and around 3 pm on Tuesday the course was closed which meant our Week 18 was nullified.

Easton is planning to aerate the greens on Monday and Tuesday which means if everything goes as plan we will be playing the back nine for the league.

One last thing with the end of the season approaching can you please let me know if you are not going to make in the Banquet by Week 20.

Thanks

Before we get into our Week 17 Recap I appreciate everyone's suggestions for next year. I think a few of them make sense and will revisit them in the offseason. Also if you play early on Tuesday I will be dropping the money envelopes off  around 11 when I get back from NH.

We had 40 players and another beautiful, dry day. We had 13 players in the red, 11 players even and 16 players on the plus side. Bob Bourne and Greg Paone both had 18 points this week for the high pointer

Individual Play -  Jim Liddick was +6 this week to grab this week's honor for Individual play. Bob Bourne and Saul Payne tied for second at +4 with Bourne winning the card off on hole 1. Other good scores were Chuck Mathieson, Peter Frasca, “Blue man” Steve Lozzi and Greg Paone both finish with +3

Team Play - We had two teams finish tied for first in team play at +7. Bob Bourne (+4)/ Greg Paone (+3) and Jim Liddick(+6)/Steve Danieli (+1). The team of Bob and Greg once again were able to win the card off on hole 1. Mathieson and Regan were two points away from cashing.

Closest to the Pin:  Paul McDermott stuck his shot inside Chuck Mathieson to  take closest to the pin with 6’4”.  Nice shot!!!

We had 10 birdies this week and five of them lived: Bob Bourne on hole 5, “Blue Man” Steve Lozzi on hole 6 & 7 , Greg Paone on hole 8 and Andrew Dugan on hole 9. Hole 2 (Payne & Bourne) and hole 4 (Mathieson, Payne and Haslam) were covered.

We had 25 players enter the back 9 birdie pool with 9 birdies and only 2 surviving birdies: Greg Paone on hole 16 and Jim Silvia on hole 17. Hole 12 (Paone & Hrenko),  hole 13 (Lozzi & McNiece) and hole 15 (Paone, White & Finn) were covered.

Before we get into our Week 16 Recap as you all know the end of the tournament is a few weeks away and with only 4 weeks left I wanted to keep people in the loop. I have talked to Larry about the situation and wanted to share it with everyone. With the lack of rain or the threat of rain we have averaged 24 out 26 public members and only 2 no shows. In the years past we would average 6-8 no shows which helped us fund the end of the tournament. Over the next few days I will be meeting with Mark to get a price for the end of year dinner and crunching the numbers to see where we stand.

We had 43 players and one 20 minute downpour. We had 13 players in the red, 11 players even and 19 players on the plus side. Steve Dow was the high pointer with 20 pts.  Other high scores for the week were Greg Paone with 19 pts and Steve Lozzi with 18 points.

Individual Play -  Steve Dow had another great week with an eagle on 2 and a birdie on 9 for +10. Steve Lozzi and Saul Payne were not only partners this week but they were both +6. Steve Lozzi took 2nd by parring hole 1.

Team Play - As mentioned Saul Payne and Steve Lozzi were teamed up and scored a solid +12 for the week. Steve Dow and Chris Haslam did enough to hold on to second place with +8.

Closest to the Pin:  Wayne Musgrove took closest to the pin with 12’9”  Nice shot!!!

The course was playing much harder this week than last week by only giving up 10 birds and one eagle. Four holes survived: Steve Dow eagle hole 2, Rich Walsh on hole 3, Greg Paone on hole 6 and Dugan on hole 8. Hole 5 (Cahill, Daniels) and hole nine 9 (Lozzi, Silva and Dow) were covered. We had two birdies on hole 2 as well by Payne and Paone.

We had 21 players enter the back birdie pool with 10 birdies and only 2 surviving birdies: Mike Bradley on hole 12 and Bob Loring on hole 14. Hole 13 once again gave up multiple birdies (Greene, Haslam, White, Lozzi, and Mathieson).

Not sure if anyone else notice but we kept Magic Mike and Mike "The Money Man" of the score board this week.

Holes 3, 13, & 18 were covered

Before we get into our Week 15 Recap, I am going to rename Week 15 to THE MAGIC MIKE WALL SHOW. I will need Larry Barry to confirm but I think we have a new all time high when Magic Mike posted 32 points. Yes, you are reading it correctly 32 points. He had 4 pars (8pts), 4 birdies (16pts) and a hole in one (8pts). It was fun to watch the Magic show.

We were back to normal with 46 players. We had 14 players in the red , 8 players even and 24 players on the plus side. Magic Mike Wall  had the high points for the week with 32. Steve Dow had 20 pts and Greg Paone had 19 pts but nothing compared to 32 points.

Individual Play -  By now we all know who won the week … yeah yeah Magic Mike Wall with 18 points over his quota. I was not there when Steve Dow turned in his card but the emotional roller coaster he must have gone on over the 30 second period had to go something like this. Hey TJ  I just had the round of my life. I more than doubled my quota for 20 pts. TJ probably replied with that’s nice but you got smoked by Mike Wall and his +18. Steve goes from cloud nine to what the F@#$ did you say plus F-en what!!! Steve all I can say is that I feel your pain. Make a long story short, I pressed Mike on hole 8 in our side match. I went par birdie and still lost the press.

Team Play - As mentioned this is the MAGIC MIKE WALL week because it was his turn to be the ALTERNATE and he decided to have the greatest week in league history. Magic Mike Wall +18 single handedly out scored all other teams he was not a part of. The two lucky players that came in first with Magic Mike was Dan McGarry (+3) for a team total +21 and not like he needs more winning but Mike “Money Man” McNiece +1 was good enough for second place in teams at +19. The highest team that Magic Mike was not part of was plus 12 ( Steve Dow and Eric Aronson)

Closest to the Pin:  Steve Dow might not have been able to beat Magic Mike for all nine holes but he had a little magic of his own with his approach shot on hole 2 where he stuck it to roughly 4 ft.  Nice shot!!!

The course must be drying up because as a league we had the most birdies all year with 17 birdies and 1 hole in one. Every hole had a birdie on it except for hole 1. Hole 2 (Steve Dow), hole 5 (Larry Barry) , hole 6 (Magic Mike Wall hole in one) and hole 7 (Magic Mike Wall) all survived. Hole 3 (Doonan, Mathieson, Murphy), hole 4 (Doonan, Murphy, Wall), Hole 8 (Wall, Silvia) and Hole 9 (McNiece, Finn, Wall, Paone) were all covered. Birdies on hole 6 were by Frasca and Dow.

We had 25 players enter the back  birdie pool with 10 birdies and only 4 surviving birdies. Dan Svirsky hole 10, Mike “Money Man” McNiece hole 12, Wayne Musgrove hole 15 and Mark Nolan hole 18 all survived. Non surviving holes on the back nine were hole 13 (Mathieson, Dugan, Silvia, and Wall) and hole 16 (Mathieson and Wall).

This brings up to the end of the MAGIC show.
